I am pleased as punch and proud to loudly represent and present in HQ finally here at Avril-Media, the video for 'The Best Damn Thing.' (A-M first posted it here the day the video premiered, but only in relatively low quality, and most of the dl links have since died.) It appears TBDT is not available in true HD. If anyone has or knows of one, please pm me. For now we'll just have to make the damn best of it!
TBDT was the fourth and final single, the title track in fact, from Avril's third album. The song was written by Av and Butch Walker, who produced it as well. TBDT was first released on April 17, 2008. It peaked at #23 in Portugal, and the CD single went platinum in Brazil. The Portugese-speaking countries stepped it up for the rest of us. You got damn good taste, the best even! Obrigado.
The music video was helmed by veteran video director Wayne Isham, who filmed it on February 28, 2008. TBDT premiered on Total Request Live Italy on April 4. Debuting on the website Imeem on April 9, TBDT was shown along with a filmed introduction by Avril.
Hey, remember that?! I do. I remember Imeem, too. Imeem was a social media service where users interacted with each other by streaming, uploading and sharing music and music videos. However, it was shut down on December 9, 2009, when MySpace acquired the service... Hey, remember MySpace!? I'm still there, but MySpace is coming like a ghost town. Anyway, I miss Imeem. Not as much as much as I miss MySpace. And that is not as much by far of course as I miss Miss A No.1 TBDT herself, but I'm sure I'm not alone in this.
Just as in the video for 'Girlfriend,' TBDT video shows Av as three distinct characters: a head cheerleader with a team of pom pom girls, a girl in a dress and a pink wig sitting all alone on a couch, and as herself leading her band. Av even plays the drums. Her brother Matthew and former band members Evan Taubenfeld and Devin Bronson all appear. Towards the end her fellow cheerleaders hold up cards spelling out Avril's first name, following which she throws up an 'L' -- no, not for loser, but for Lavigne! Yeah that's right, you got it.

And now in honor of:
1), The title track of what IMHO is the best damn album by Avril, and that's saying a lot! Even more it is my favorite album by anyone. Ever. As it is by farthest far my most played album in the last three years.
I am not saying TBDT has Avril's best songs on it. I'd probably give it up to 'Under My Skin,' as it has 'My Happy Ending,' 'He Wasn't,' and the song of the last decade, 'Nobody's Home.' I wouldn't say TBDT was the best tour. I guess I'd have to hand it to 'Let Go,' aka the 'Try To Shut Me Up Tour.' That tour was fierce and featured her best live band, and that includes Avril. But as the best made and played collection of songs entire by our fair maiden, TBDT does the mad magic trick for me.

Avril takes a ton of shit for TBDT. I've been defending her for it ever since she released it. It may be a lost cause and a dirty job but someone's got to do it. And why not me, considering I love it to-and-till death. Oh, I could go on and on to explain like anyone cares - lemme know and I will let you know - about why I'm insane over TBDT. But suffice to say 'The Best Damn Thing' is what it is, is what it says it is! And I ain't ashamed & a-scared to scream and lose control, to give a rebel hell yeah, I FOUND MY THRILL UP ON AVRIL HILL!
2), The best damn season that is just getting warmed up north here but two days ago hence. HAPPY HERE COMES ANOTHER SUMMER!
